George Washington Bridge
This project was completed during the Masters in Branding program at SVA. The George Washington Bridge in New York City has a high rate of suicide jumps each year. The existing preventative signs at the bridge are small and lack a humane tone to evoke an emotional connection. The challenge was to create a new approach in signage that will speak directly to those in need of help along with those who could save a life while walking, biking or jogging on the bridge .
Solution
Signage that speaks to those at risk and those passerby who can possibly be of help to others. Looking at emotions that all humans feel and creating ways that can be communicated through signs. Colors, language and placement were all important factors in the final designs.
